However, as with anything that’s worth having, there are a few steps and guidelines you should follow to give your sale the best possible chance for worthwhile success. Before the Sale

*   Check for requirements of permits or any restrictions in your area.

*   Pick a sale date (Thursday-Saturday are the most popular)

*   Invite neighbors and friends to join sale

*   Advertise:  use signs, post online sites such as Craigslist & Facebook.

*   Sell items you have not used for a while, price 10-50% of the original price.

*   Wash dirty items & price with removable labels or tags,


The Big Day!

*   Set up takes time. Sweep & tidy area of sale.

*   Arrange tables and items so traffic flows

*   Display signs like KITCHEN ITEMS, TOYS, MUSIC, CLOTHES etc.

*   Keep all expensive items under a watchful eye and close to you.

*   Have small bills and coins for change. Don’t leave money unattended. Lock house.

*   Post signs “All Sales Final” to avoid hassles.
